Basic guide of use and access

Access to FlexiLabs applications and desktops can be done through any compatible browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Google Chrome.

To access the applications, taking full advantage of the graphic and redirection capabilities of flexiLabs, it is necessary to install the client software (this action is performed the first time the service is accessed).

The flexiLabs client software can be downloaded through the downloads tab at the main portal URL. On this page the versions for Windows, Linux, MAC, etc. are available. There are also versions available for iOS and Android in the respective application stores.

Note: You can also access flexiLabs without installing any client software using the HTML5 option. This mode allows access to all applications but is limited in functionality (does not allow multimedia redirection or access to local units).


By using a compatible browser and entering the indicated URL, you access the main portal.

To access you must enter the username and password. Depending on the profile of the user, different desktops and applications will be available.


To close a desktop, click on the start icon (bottom left corner) and click on the "Log off" option

From an application, you can simply close the application in the usual way by choosing the option to Exit in the menu or clicking on the close button.

The first time a file.pit appears at the lower left part of the browser window in Chrome, go to the drop-down menu to the right of the downloaded file and choose the option "Always open files of this type". Then click twice on the .pit file to open the application. Next time an application is opened, the .pit file will no longer request approval and will open directly.


The first time you click an icon to open an application, a file with the .pit extension is downloaded. Firefox doesn't know the extension and will ask what program should use to open it.


Check the option "do this automatically for files like this from now on" and select Browse twice in this window and in the next one.Locate the pntsc.exe file located by default in the folder Program Files\Quest Software\vWorkspace Client\pntsc.exe


Finally click Open in this window and OK to accept the selection.

From now on, applications will execute automatically when you click on them.

These browsers don't require any further configuration. They are the recommended option to access flexiLabs applications.

1. Go to the Control Panel (right click the start menu button) and configure the next window as "large icons" and select "Default Programs"

2. Select "Associate a file type or protocol with a program"

3. Select the extension .pit and click on "Change Program"

4. Next select "Search for other application"

5. Indicate the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\vWorkspace Client and select pntsc.exe

6. In this way the .pit extension is associated to be opened automatically.

How to save and access my files

Please avoid saving information in the C: drive of the remote virtual machine as this data will probably be deleted when the session is closed. It is strongly recommended to always save your own documents in any of the local units or external devices such as USB sticks of your personal computer.


The local units of your personal computer from where you are connecting from usually will appear as: "Letter of the unit in >your_device_name<". In the example below, the personal device has the name 819HW6M12.


A better performance and user experience are achieved when files are previously uploaded to the remote application using "My Cloud Documents" folder. The contents of this folder are accessible from all remote programs and desktops.

Please be aware that this folder has limited space and is not recommended for saving documents for long periods.

Important: "My Cloud Documents" is for temporary use and contents are not backed up. All documents in this folder are deleted regularly after a few days. You should always make a copy of the documents to the local units of your personal computer.

The contents of "My Cloud Documents" folder can be accessed from outside using the "File Explorer" application. Through this tool you can copy, delete, upload or download files between your personal computer and the virtual environment.

Please be aware that documents deleted from "My Cloud Documents" folder can not be recovered or restored. This folder is facilitated to speed up the response of remote applications. It is not recommended to keep documents permanently.

Common Errors

Occasionally it may happen that the remote application or desktop is not responding or working properly. If this occurs, you should force the application to close and start it over again.

To force the closure, click on the "vWorkspace" icon in the task bar of your personal computer from where you are connecting from. Press the left button and select "Open Session Status".


All open sessions will appear in the list. To close an application or desktop, select the name and click the "Logoff" button.


p>If no application or desktop is opened from the access portal you may try the alternative access via HTML5.

In the main portal or in the downloads tab, select the option HTML5 and then enter your access credentials.

Please notice that the HTML5 client is more limited than the native client but is a good choice when connecting from shared computers or having problems with the standard access. The HTML5 client has the following restrictions:

- It is not possible to access local drives and USB devices from your personal computer. You should use the provided File Explorer for this.

- To transfer files between remote applications accessed via HTML5 and your personal computer use the File Explorer option in flexiLabs.

If the session is not responding even in the case of exiting and reconnecting back, use the "_Close all sessions_" program from the main portal and close all sessions.

If after connecting a USB pendrive to your personal computer is not showing up on the remote Desktop or Application, press F5 to force a screen refresh.
